As part of the New York State permitting process, Alder Creek Solar will be conducting a visual impact assessment to determine where the project will be visible in the towns of Boonville and Forestport. The project team will prepare visual simulations that will provide the community with an accurate depiction of what Alder Creek Solar will look like and where it will be visible.
Because solar collection devices are usually at a low tilt, under 15 feet tall, and often surrounded by trees and other plantings, the visual impacts of a solar farm to the surrounding community can be minimal. At Alder Creek Solar, due to the natural vegetation and topography of the site, surrounding roadways and residences will have very limited views of the facility. We have proactively identified areas where the project may be visible and are asking for your help to identify areas where an additional setback or vegetative screening may be appropriate to minimize visibility.
We have identified locations (see map at right) for evaluation based on publicly available information, but we know residents like you know your community best. We are happy to hear your feedback and consider additional sites. Please submit your suggestions using the form below and we will review public submissions to determine if any are appropriate to add to the list.
If you would like more details about the locations reviewed, a visual information packet can be downloaded here.
